Congratulations to Recent AAP Graduates!

Juliet Bradley has the distinction of being the first graduate student to write her dissertation based on AAP data! Juliet’s dissertation is entitled A Longitudinal Examination of the Moderating Impact of Family and Peer Factors on the Relationship between Anxiety and Alcohol Use During Adolescence. Juliet received her Ph.D. in Human Development & Family Studies from the University of Delaware this summer. Congratulations Juliet!

Sara Bergamo is officially the first graduate student to write her Master’s thesis based on AAP data! Sara’s thesis is entitled Sport Participation: Is it Linked to Adolescent Substance Use? Sara received her M.S. in Human Development & Family Studies from the Universityof Delaware in May of 2010. Congratulations Sara!

Kelly Cheeseman also received her M.S. in Human Development & Family Studies from the University of Delaware in May of 2010. Congratulations Kelly!

Alyson Cavanaugh used AAP data for her honors thesis. Alyson’s thesis is entitled The Relationship between Coping and Anxiety during Adolescence: The Importance of Considering Race/Ethnicity and Gender. In May of 2010, Alyson graduated summa cum laude, with a B.S. in Human Services with Distinction, minor in Psychology, and as a Dean’s Scholar. Alyson now is attending the doctoral program in Human Development & Family Studies at UNC – Greensboro. Congratulations Alyson!

Lizzie Lewis similarly used AAP data for her honors thesis. Lizzie’s thesis is entitled Adolescent Coping Strategies and Onset of Substance Use. Lizzie graduated from the University of Delaware in May of 2010 with a B.S. in Human Services with Distinction. Congratulations Lizzie!

Caitlin Bailey based her honors thesis on AAP data also. Caitlin graduated from the University of Delaware in May of 2010 with a B.S. degree in Human Services with Distinction. Congratulations Caitlin!

AAP students receive prestigious UD awards!

The following Adolescent Adjustment Project (AAP) students have received prestigious awards from the University of Delaware:

Jessica Schulz’s research poster was awarded first place in the graduate division at the 2011 Marion Steele Symposium. Congratulations Jessica!!!

Alyson Cavanaugh was awarded the University of Delaware’s Warner award, which recognizes the most outstanding woman from the entire graduating class at UD. At graduation in May 2010, Alyson will represent all graduating women! Alyson (along with the outstanding senior man) will lead the alumni delegates’ procession at Commencement. Congratulations to Alyson!!! Alyson now is featured on UD’s home web page!

Kelly Cheeseman was awarded the Strattner-Gregory Graduate Child Advocacy Award. This award recognizes a graduate student who shows promise of becoming a strong advocate for children. Congratulations Kelly!!!
